The Second M.sc Clinical Psychology students were given an opportunity to have a three-week internship at Anirveda, a Psychological Well Being Centre in Mangalore specializing in Children with behavioural, neurodevelopmental and intellectual issues. They learned to identify and appreciate each child’s unique abilities and the challenges faced by them as well their families. The guidance and support given by the counsellors they were able to overcome the initial difficulties in building rapport due to attention deficits or resistance to new people, gradually formed connections with the children. The internship revolved around understanding individualized goals for each child, ranging from basic tasks to classroom engagement. Through classes on case history, mental status examination of children with disabilities , case formulation, and remedial training, and the process of Behaviour therapy.. Group sessions on Saturdays facilitated socialization and bonding among the children. The supervised sessions helped to build confidence, reinforcing their ability to handle children independently. The internship gave a sense of accomplishment and with lasting memories.

The Five-day workshop by Mr. Stany MP Psychotherapist proved to be a transformative journey, providing a comprehensive exploration of psychotherapy and fostering significant personal and professional growth. Beginning with foundational aspects on Day 1, participants learned the subtleties of the counselor’s posture, maintaining eye contact, and initiating conversations. Practical exercises, including handshake techniques and body language, offered valuable insights into the client’s perspective.
Day 2 delved into advanced topics such as facial expressions, eyeball movements, anchoring, and Gestalt therapy, emphasizing the importance of regulating emotions during sessions. The exploration of personality disorders on Day 3 motivated further research and showcased the bridge between theory and real-world application. Gestalt therapy effectiveness in addressing emotional challenges was highlighted on Day 4, with live demo sessions illustrating the integration of theory and practice.
The concluding Day 5 emphasized acknowledging and handling emotions, with an overall positive impact on overcoming fears and unresolved issues. Participants expressed gratitude for the engaging and enriching environment, appreciating the workshop’s interactive nature, Resource person’s guidance, and the blend of theory and practical application. The focus on building rapport and creating a positive atmosphere significantly boosted confidence, concentration, and connection in therapeutic conversations, contributing to a holistic and impactful learning experience.
