  • Started M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) in 2022 affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS).
  • Sanctioned 12 seats per batch by RCI. Currently second batch of trainees are undergoing training.
  • 100% results in the first batch of M.Phil. Clinical Psychology exams.
  • Currently the Department has 20 post graduate M.Sc. Clinical Psychology students and 24 M.Phil. Clinical Psychology Trainees.
  • The department is attached to Manasa Nursing Home, which is a 150 bedded psychiatric hospital which also has multi specialities like neurology, neuro-psychiatry, neuro-surgery, neuro- psychiatric rehabilitation, de addiction and neuropsychiatric child guidance clinic.
  • The department provides mental health services in the specialized areas of child and adolescent mental health, young adults, adults and elderly.
  • One to one hands on clinically supervised training is provided on regular basis for the trainees.
  • Department is led by team of experienced faculty with expertise in research, teaching and practice.
  • Comprehensive personal and professional growth and development is of prime importance of the department.

Students across the country are facilitated with acquainting themselves to cater to the geographical and regional clinical needs.

Services Provided

The Department of Clinical Psychology offers a range of services aimed at assessing, diagnosing, and treating various mental health issues.

Psychological Assessment: This involves comprehensive evaluations to assess an individual’s psychological functioning, including cognitive assessments, neuropsychological assessments, assessments for learning disability, disability assessment and certification, personality traits, diagnostic assessments, and behavioral assessments. These assessments help in diagnosing mental health disorders and planning appropriate treatment.

Psychotherapy/Counseling:  The department provide various forms of evidence based psychotherapy  & counseling and interventions  to individuals ranging from child to elderly, couples, families, and groups. These interventions aim to help clients overcome their psychological difficulties, manage stress, improve coping skills, and enhance overall psychological well-being.

Diagnostic Evaluation: Intensive training is provided to diagnose various psychiatric, neurological and neuro surgical  conditions .  Standardized psychological  and  diagnostic tools are used for evaluation , formulate accurate diagnoses and thereby to manage the cases effectively.

Treatment Planning and Intervention: Based on the assessment findings and diagnosis, clinical psychologists develop personalized treatment plans tailored to meet the specific needs of each clients. These treatment plans may include psychotherapy and counselling, psychiatric rehabilitation,  medication management  in collaboration with professionals across other disciplines.

Tele-Counselling Services:  The department runs a full fledged tele counselling unit to  accommodate the  immediate psychological needs, crisis management, psychological first aid and cater to all geographical barriers.

Crisis Intervention: The department is involved in providing psychological support and intervention during crisis situations and any psychiatric emergencies. We work in collaboration with emergency services or crisis helplines to provide timely assistance and stabilization.

Consultation and Collaboration:  The department collaborates with other healthcare professionals and organizations including general physicians, paediatricians, community health workers, social workers, child welfare organizations and agencies, women protection cell , prisons, juvenile homes etc  to provide comprehensive care for individuals with complex mental health needs. We also offer consultation services to organizations, schools, and community agencies on mental health-related issues.

Preventive Mental Health Services: In addition to treating existing mental health problems, the department also offers  preventive interventions aimed at promoting mental health and well-being, reducing the risk of psychological disorders, and enhancing resilience. This involves awareness programs, screening, psycho education, stress management , and skills training programs at educational institutions, corporate companies, organizations and community health care centres.

Research and Development : The department engages  in innovative  and scientific  research of global standards to meet the contemporary mental health and societal needs.  Our emphasis is on creating a scientific impact in mental health and interdisciplinary areas involving trained resources in India and overseas.  We constantly involve in  conducting clinical trials, outcome studies, creating and developing scientific tools, program evaluations, and contributing to the development of evidence-based practices and bringing quality publications.
