Kateel Ashok Pai Memorial Institute for Allied Health Sciences (KAPMIAHS), affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) is a unit of Manasa Trust, established in fond memory of late Dr. K. A. Ashok Pai who was an eminent psychiatrist, film maker, orator, media personality and philanthropist. Rooted in his visionary spirit, KAPMIAHS offers higher education in allied health sciences.

HISTORY

Established in 2019, KAPMIAHS has a proud legacy of academic excellence and innovation. From our humble beginnings, we have grown into a renowned institution recognized for our commitment to advancing healthcare through education, research, and community engagement.
  • Our beginnings can be traced back to Dr. Ashok Pai initiating mental health care  with the establishment of Manasa Nursing Home in 1979, pioneering the concept of bringing mental health services directly to people’s doorsteps.
  • Manasa Nursing Home expanded its services, including the establishment of Manasadhara-Psychosocial Rehabilitation Centre, Smrithi -Neurology Care Unit, Manaspoorthi-Child Guidance Clinic, and Mukunda– Home for the elderly, forming a comprehensive network of mental health care and a strong clinical foundations for training in health care.
  • In 1998, the Pai family established Manasa Trust, a registered charitable trust with a primary objective of imparting education and fostering holistic development.
  • KAPMIAHS was founded in 2019 as one of the constituent unit of Manasa Trust, aimed at providing higher education and training in allied health sciences.
  • Despite its modest beginnings in a small suburb of Shivamogga, KAPMIAHS has quickly gained recognition for its commitment to excellence in education and practical clinical training.
  • The institute’s curriculum is designed to meet the contemporary needs of the healthcare industry, emphasizing hands-on experience, cutting-edge research, and a multidisciplinary approach to learning.
